Because of the nature of some materials they are for use in the Library only. 

Newspapers and periodicals may be wanted by a number of people so they must stay in the Library.  We receive the following local papers daily, Gulf News, Khaleej Times and The National and a number of local, regional and international periodicals (Time Out Dubai, What’s On, Arabian Business, Trends, Gulf Marketing, Road and Track, Reader’s Digest and more).

Reserve materials are items that your professor may want you to read or they could be older copies of a textbook.  Because many students may want to use Reserve Materials they do not go out of the Library.  You may use them in the Library for 2 hours at a time.  Usually you can photocopy these items.  However, it is against UAE copyright law to copy an entire book.

Reference materials are things like dictionaries, encyclopedias, manuals and handbooks.  These are usually used just to check something and do not need to be borrowed from the Library.
